The Sanctuary

A blind dog has no chance on the streets of Jordan. Most shelters aren’t built for them either — they need quiet, steady space and people with the patience to provide it. The Jordan Blind Dog Sanctuary is that place: a permanent home for dogs who can’t survive anywhere else.

Faris is completely blind, but you'd never know watching him roam with his besties, Dash and Harris.

More than a Sanctuary — a Regional Emergency Response Center

When crisis hits, animals are the first to be left behind. We want to change that.

A Region in Crisis

Left behind when war came. Most don’t make it.

Jordan sits in the middle of an unstable region. Syria to the north. Iraq to the east. The West Bank and Israel to the west. Lebanon close by, just across Syria. When conflict erupts — and it does, again and again — animals are the first casualties no one talks about. They’re left behind in homes, on streets, in shelters that empty overnight. We’ve watched it happen for decades.

A Place to Host Animals in Crisis

Our enclosures, ready to receive animals when their world falls apart.

When war broke out in March 2026, U.S. nationals were ordered to evacuate — but many couldn’t go, because airlines wouldn’t take their pets and they wouldn’t abandon family. People had to choose between their own safety and the lives of animals they loved. No one should ever have to make that choice. Our sanctuary is being designed to host these animals — temporarily or permanently — so families never face that decision alone.

A Base for Emergency Response Teams

Comfortable, secure space for the people who do the work.

We’re not just building a place for animals. We’re building infrastructure for the people who save them. Our location puts us within reach of the borders with Syria, the West Bank, and Israel — Iraq and Lebanon are not far. The facility includes large freezers, refrigeration, and dry storage capable of holding food and supplies for sustained operations. We can host emergency response teams on-site: a base of operations for veterinary missions, food distribution, and rescue deployments across the region.

Built for Readiness

Infrastructure that holds when it matters

A response center is only as good as the infrastructure behind it. Ours is built for it. The grounds are fully fenced and gated, with a secured perimeter that keeps both animals and people safe. Spacious parking accommodates response vehicles, supply trucks, and visiting teams. A solar power system keeps the facility running independent of the grid — critical when infrastructure fails. Stockpiled firewood, tents, large freezers, and refrigeration mean we can sustain operations through power outages, harsh winters, and extended missions.
